Many articles do not reach the emacs.ding newsgroup

[Hallvard B Furuseth]

Several of my postings to the ding mailinglist have not reached
emacs.ding.  Nor has Lars' message with the headers below, I've copied
the headers from the list archive at
<URL:http://www.gnus.org/list-archives/ding/199902/msg00458.html>.
(Since it _did_ reach the archive, I assume it also reached the
mailinglist.)

Actually, I've been getting occasional bounces off of the mail2news
gateway.  Let me know who should get a bounce and I'll send a copy.

It would be better to subscribe to ding@gnus.org.

I think you misunderstood me.  I am the guy who gets mail sent to
ding-owner.  I.e. I run the list.  The bounces I see come from the mail
gateway refusing messages.  I don't get a lot of bounces, though, so it may
not explain every message that's not making it.

Upon closer inspection, this may actually point to a Gnus bug somewhere.
Here's a relevant excerpt; note the duplicated Content-Type: header:

Yup.  Well, since there is only one ding newsgroup, I guess the gateway
could bounce to the sender as if it were the mailinglist.  So if the
mailinglist would take the envelope `From ' address and insert in an
X-Enveolope-From: header or something, you could bounce to that address.
Otherwise I guess you'd have to take the address from Reply-To:, From:,
Mail-Copies-To: or whatever it's called, like normal mail clients.  And
probably don't bounce if the resulting address contains the text 'ding'.

Indeed.  You could check what happened to your or my previous message
about the subject, or this one unless it for some reason does reach the
newsgroup:-)

Or in the ding mailinglist.  Maybe it inserts MIME headers if it thinks
there are none.  Compare a failed original message with the message as
it looked in the ding mailinglist, i.e. this one if it too fails:-)

Hm.  Under what circumstances does Gnus add double Content-Type
headers, I wonder?  Could y'all take a peek in your "*sent ... *"
buffers and see what you find?

Or perhaps it's an MTA that adds Content-Type headers?
