It appears that the code that actually does the attaching does not use the
standard file hooks, so an attachment filename that looks like this:

  filename="/pieri@sun:/us/arcdev/lists/company"

fails to be included.

Also files in (argl) DOS format (at least for me):
  filename="c:\\my\\path\\to\\my\\file"
