Dovecot is the IMAP server that sees the most action, both in use and
development.

So you probably shouldn't disable something on Dovecot, until you find
out which version(s) of Dovecot has the problem.  If recent versions
have the problem, a Dovcot bug should be reported (ideally by the people
seeing the problem).

If old versions of Dovecot has the problem, people should be told to
upgrade, rather than crippling the Gnus/Dovecot interaction.

(I use Gnus with Dovecot, so Gnus/Dovecot interaction is important to
me. I use the Dovecot on debian "jessie", which currently is Dovecot
2.2.13)
