Subject: xterm-mouse-mode beeps

Hello!
Several Emacsen-21 - one on a Suse-Linux-box and another in a
cygwin-environment (that's *not* NTEmacs) - exhibit a strange
behaviour with xterm-mouse-mode:
- I click somewhere
- The cursor moves where I clicked (so far so good ;-)
- But as soon as I release the mouse-button, Emacs beeps at me and the
cursor returns to where it was before the click.
Does anyone have an idea what the cause of this problem might be and
how to solve it?
Thanks,
Wolfgang
