I could collect the doc-strings for the functions in question from
XEmacs 21.1.14 if this is useful.

I only used XEmacs to reproduce the warning Katsumi mentioned. I only
use Emacs otherwise. Yes, XEmacs 21.1.14 is quite old. But is this
statement from the manual still valid for Oort?
