Are all the goodies you are missing from No Gnus mentioned in
texi/gnus-news.texi?

I would leave those things in as they are.  Maybe there will be a
5.10.7 from this branch as Simon suggested (I don't know about Lars'
opinion, though).  I don't think that any XEmacs compatibility code in
the Emacs-bundled Gnus versions has been erased in the past.

If `mm-inline-text-html-render-with-w3m' doesn't work in v5-10, I
would consider it as a bug that should be fixed.
