When encrypting a message via C-c RET C-c, Gnus archives an encrypted
copy. Since generally I don't have the private key for encrypted
e-mails I send, the copy is then useless to me. Is there any simple way
to make Gnus save an unencrypted copy? (And yes, I know about the
security implications.)

I'd set `default-recipient-self' in `~/.gnupg/gpg.conf'.

I'd guess you could remove the security MML tag in the temp buffer used
in `gnus-inews-do-gcc'.

I think it's quite common to be interested in only securing the
transport and not the local copy of the message. Patches welcome!
Bye, Reiner.
