I'm afraid that this doesn't help much in the situation in question: The Gnus user *receives* a message with a From (or Cc) header like... | From: =3D?iso-8859-1?q?Wiens=3D2C_Stef=3DAAn?=3D ... and Gnus fails to build the correct reply headers. Would it be possible to build the (Reply) headers from the original (undecoded) article? My impression is that this would be necessary in order to fix the problem. > I also wrote that it's easy to solve if what does such an encoding > is only Gnus. There are some problems with this patch. After applying your patch, I see the *encoded* From in the Summary and Article buffer: | From: =3D?iso-8859-1?q?Wiens=3D2C_Stef=3DAAn?=3D Also in the To header and the attribution line in the reply I get the encoded form. Surprisingly, the From in the reply of the sent message is encoded: I've put another test message in gmane.test[1] and after `R' (using No Gnus including your patch), I received: | To: =3D?iso-8859-1?q?Steib=3D2C_Re=3DEDner?=3D Thanks for looking into this problem. Bye, Reiner. [1] http://article.gmane.org/gmane.test/2087 BTW, Gmane also problems with such From lines. --=20 ,,, (o o) ---ooO-(_)-Ooo--- | PGP key available | http://rsteib.home.pages.de/
