Emacs 21 (e.g. Gnus 5.9) already has imap.el.  Of course not a current
version, so I don't know if it would be sufficient for
trimp.el/tramp-imap.el.  But I don't think this matters much.  A
library for "file storage in IMAP" should probably be included in
Emacs, either as part of tramp or independently, but not as part of
Gnus (making it possible to save drafts on IMAP would be a very nice
feature for Gnus, of course!).  So you should discuss it on
emacs-devel sooner or later.
