Hm. Many people use the cache for persistent articles (at least I
think of it like that -- I hit `!' to let a message stick around
forever). So that part of the cache is misnamed, IMHO.
Maybe we need to think of two (or three?) new
packages/functionalities, and then we can choose new names and then we
can think of how to move old functionality to the new names.
