For mail, there should not be a problem, but if you have a different
news server, you have to do something about that.

If you expect to get back after the trip, you could use M-x
gnus-no-server RET during the trip.  If you want to read news during
the trip, you could create a (temporary) foreign server.

If you change news servers permanently, see the relevant section about
changing news servers in the Gnus info file.
