editing messages with IMAP

editing messages with IMAP

I read my IMAP mail with Gnus 5.8.2 and nnimap.  There are times that
I would like to edit a message in my INBOX on the IMAP server.

When I try 'e' in the Summary buffer (gnus-summary-edit-article), I get
a message
         "The current newsgroup does not support article editing"

I can use 'C-u e' to force editing, but the message is still not changed
on the server.

Is what I'm trying to do not possible with IMAP, or am I just going about it
wrong?

IMAP does not support article editing.  There was talk on the nnimap
mailing list of frobbing Gnus such that it deletes the old article and
adds a new one in such cases, but AFAIK this hasn't been done (yet?).
