Subject: mail-sources doesn't work?
Date: 13 Sep 2000 11:37:26 +0200	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <vaf8zsw4oq1.fsf@lucy.cs.uni-dortmund.de> (raw)

I've seen the following strange situation: in ~/.gnus, I have the
following:

(setq nnmail-spool-file nil)
(setq mail-sources '((file :path "/var/mail/grossjoh")))

Hitting `g' in the Group buffer does not fetch mail. But after
evaluating the following, then hitting `g' again, fetches mail!

(setq nnmail-spool-file mail-sources)

Has anyone seen this? That it is necessary to use nnmail-spool-file
rather than mail-sources?

kai

PS: Gnus still fetches mail after setting mail-sources to nil, if
    nnmail-spool-file has the right value.
