pgnus 0.96 still uses quoted-printable when I post a news with
accentuated characters. I thought this had been fixed ?

The variable gnus-group-posting-charset-alist controls this. Would
you like to submit a default entry?

Actually, it seems to be worse than that. I've sent a mail and a news, both
with french characters. Here's what I get (the results are the same for both
mail and news):

Gcc archived message:
| Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
| Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bits

Received message:
| Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
| Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

The charset is wrong. Surprisingly, here's the (default) value of
gnus-group-posting-charset-alist:

| ("^no\\." iso-8859-1)
| (message-this-is-mail nil)
| (".*" iso-8859-1)
| (message-this-is-news iso-8859-1))

> to submit a default entry?

I'm not sure the problem lies only there.

Except I had my Gnus assuming that out-of-range chars in US-ASCII are
actually 8859.1 (or cp1252). Didier's example was indeed malformed.
Sorry for the misinformation.
