This is, I think, the relevant part of a header encoded with UTF-8. I
can't read it's subject. Is it a mistake of my Gnus configuration or
of the other MUA encoding?
I can read perfectly well iso-8859-1 encoded headers...

For UTF-8 support you need Mule-UCS or Otfried Cheong's (sp?) Unicode
package. (The latter appears to be a superset of the former.)
Does ELL (http://www.anc.ed.ac.uk/~stephen/emacs/ell.html) have
pointers?

Gnus groks UTF-8 when you install Otfried Cheong's UCS package:

How about under XEmacs? What is the current UCS status there? Last I
heard (last year I think) patches at the C-level were available.
Thanks, Jens
