Hm.  What happens when you do `O b' or `C-o' after having done `C-u g'
on that article first?  Is that an acceptable workaround?

Well, whether it's your w3 version, I don't know.  I've got 4.0pre30,
but then, I don't do `O b' or `C-o'.
