So "ssh -q %s /usr/sbin/imapd </dev/null" (including the redirection)
works, when invoked outside of Emacs?

If you invoke "emacs -batch -l ~/.emacs -f gnus-agent-batch" without
the redirection, what kind of input is expected from stdin?
