gnus keeps forgetting my nnml drafts & queue groups, until I quit &
restart. Any ideas ?

There is no such thing as an nnml drafts or queue group. There are
nndraft:drafts and nndraft:queue.
Except if you have dome some heavy customization for Gnus. Please
share it with us. Without knowing it, it's not possible to help you.
