OT1H, there was metamail.el and rmime.el, both of which did the MIME thing alright. So one can't really say that everybody who wanted a MIMEy Gnus has used TM. OTOH, the article buffer is getting to be more like a group, what with multipart messages, so it seems that the group-summary-article hierarchy is a valid thing. I'm sure that we can't satisfy everybody's need. In the end, all we can do is toss a coin. And then, why don't we all just accept Lars' wishes, he's got a certain right to have Gnus working the way he wants it, after all :-) It would be nice, though, to have an easily-customizable variable `gnus-mime-be-like-tm' or something.
