Well, IIRC I subscribed some directly via the server buffer and others via "A A" (and these groups had been subscribed long before Gnus 5.10.x was released). And it only affects Debian, no other system! And as I said I can fix it by removing the changes which Larsi introduced between 5.10.3 and 5.10.4.
