How to display the X-Face without the string...

How to display the X-Face without the string...

I'd like to display the X-Face in front of the address in the From: line,
without also displaying the boring character encoding of the X-Face header.
I can't seem to get one without the other.

I'm using pgnus 0.84, and I have the following in my .gnus.el file

(setq gnus-visible-headers
  "^X-Face:\\|^From:\\|... etc.")
)
(setq gnus-treat-display-xface 'head)

What gives?

p0.84 had a bug in X-Face display, such that the image wouldn't appear
unless you `t'oggled headers.  A patch to fix p0.84 came out, which
has since been integrated in p0.88.  Upgrade.

You should remove X-Face from gnus-visible-headers.  It isn't needed.

Upgrade to 0.88.  There's a bug in 0.84 that requires you to have
X-Face visible in order for the picture to show up.
