mail aliases

The Wonderful Message Manual says:
   `mailabbrev' works by parsing the `/etc/mailrc' and `~/.mailrc' files.

But im my case it ignores '/etc/mailrc'.
The file is there and world readable. If I link it to `~/.mailrc'
it works ok.

What's wrong?

In XEmacs 21, that appears to be a flaw in the mail-lib package.  It's 
not a function of Gnus specifically.

Doesn't rgnus support mailaliases in the ~/.mailrc-file anymore? When
trying to mail to one of the aliases in the .mailrc-file from Gnus the
mail is bounced and the macro isn't 'expanded'.

If mailed from the normail mail-commandline application it reaches its
destination.

Hmm could it be some weirdness in our mail-setup?

Message uses mailabbrev -- type `SPC' after an abbreviation to have it
expanded.

Hmm I remembered reading something like this, so I grepped for alias
in gnus and message info files, with bad results.. Hmm gotta chek the
docs up again.

No.  You just have to expand the alias yourself, by pressing space, tab
or , after typing the full alias.  Works for me, anyway.
