Hi!
i noticed that with recent gnus versions, mail messages end up in
several groups after splitting. i've set nnmail-split-methods, and now
the message ends up in ALL groups which match the regexp (and the
message headers contain several X-Gnus-Newsgroup lines). AFAIR,
previously, gnus used the FIRST matched group.
How could i tell gnus to use only one group (first matched)?

This has been part of Gnus for a very long time, however.
