Hi all,
this is my gnus-summary-line-format:
"%U%R%z%I%(%[%d,%4L: %-15,15n%]%) %s
"
Is there anything I could change here so that "Generating summary
buffer..." will be faster? I think this ought to be possible as I
once tried gnus-bbdb-insinuate-summary-buffer which changed
gnus-summary-line-format and created a slow-down by a factor of two!
I kind of have the feeling that %d is the slowest of these, but I
would really like to be able to distinguish between new and old
messages!
tia,
kai

%d is probably slow, yes. Handling dates is a pain at the moment, but
I'm hoping that someone will implement an `encode-time-string'
function in C in the future.
