That's intentional, actually.  :-)  It's bootiful!  :-P

Yup.  Fix in Gnus v5.2.22.

An extra newline before the signature separator?  Hm, yes...  It
removes all whitespace at the end of the message before inserting the
signature, and it inserts a blank line before the separator.  This is
slightly fascist.  Should it do this or not?
