<URL:http://quimby.gnus.org/> should now be up (everywhere that the
DNS thing has spread to). In the future, this will be the primary
source of Larsania. www.gnus.org will continue as before, but it'll
now be a mirror of the <URL:http://quimby.gnus.org/gnus/> directory.

I notice that the "patches" link is still pointing at ifi.uio.no
(which is the server which was serving up the empty patch file last
time), rather than to quimby.

The white in the text-images is not the same white as the background,
and you have a space inside the quimby-anchor.

Is quimby the machine you do your developing on? If so, could you make
available a live link to your Gnus todo file (assuming you still maintain
one)? Or at least a regularly updated copy of it? This used to be on
www.stud.ifi.uio.no, but it stopped being updated back in 1996 when you moved
your development to a different machine, I think.

The todo list is now called `Newest Features' and is included in the
info file.

Hm. ppmtogif seemed to think that the white really was white, which
was what it was supposed to be... Perhaps your web browser is
rendering images differently than non-images?

Anyways, I've now made the white in the images transparent, which
might help. Or not.

I don't quite follow...

Nits'r'fun.

By the by, I ran a few of the pages though the validator at w3.org,
and some of them had no errors at all. Which goes to show that using
XEmacs as the web authoring tool totally roolz.

psgml and ispell is a pretty nitfy combination for fixing 90% of all
errors without having to view the pages even once with a web browser.
One can just type away, and after psgml and ispell-buffer have blessed
the document, you can be pretty sure that it'll display OK. (The last
10% that has to be fixed is grammatically error. Someone should write
a `igrammar-buffer' command.)

It sure would be boring to be a pedant without nits.

I should check out psgml, but I don't do much HTML in the first place,
and when I do it's often a matter of man-handling Word- or Frontpage-
generated pages to something closer to HTML-compliance (Frontpage
appears unable to generate pages that Netscape can display properly.
Go figure...)

Ah; so that's why that little black dot was below that picture.

Should be OK now...

This is on purpose, I think. And they're especially targetting
Netscape on UNIX. Try eg.
	http://www.nsb.no/persont/index.html
to see something (Norwegian State Railways route planning service)
that works fine in Netscape 4.05 on Win32 but does not work in neither
Netscape 4.04 nor 4.5 on linux (and presumably none of the versions in
between). The text is unreadble and forms editing doesn't work.

The www.nsb.no is one of the many reasons why I hate New Media Science
(arrrgh!).

Which is completely contrary to the standard. So happily drag these
browsers into the trashcan...

Weird. I wonder how they do that. Like you say, it doesn't work in
Netscape 4.5 on Linux. But if I open the frame with the form in a
_separate_ window I am able to edit the fields, do a search and get
the results in the other window.

Well, I've never understood why they couldn't just put the tables
there. That's a wellknown user interface, and I hate having to learn
a new one everytime I am using an online service. Had to turn on
javascript to get http://www.trafikanten.no to work.

But I am probably too stupid to be in the target group...
