Platform: GNU Emacs 19.31, Sparc Solaris 2.5, Gnus 5.2.14

Gnus don't show new articles in MH folders. When I get new articles,
the number of unread articles, in the "Group" folder is correct. But
when I try opening the group, there are no new articles there.

Opening the directory as an MH folder, using mh-e, verifies that the
articles are indeed there.

Unsubscribing to the mail group, and then resubscribing doesn't change
this. I had this behaviour on 5.2.6, and then upgraded to 5.2.14,
with the same results.

What I've done now, is manually clean out everything concerning the MH
mail groups from the .newsrc.eld file, and *then* resubscribing.
There was a lot of cruft left over, on the old unsubscribed groups.
They now seem to be working again.

Is this expected behaviour,... or is it a bug? ;-)

The groups were created in Gnus 5.1.

Nope. The problem is still there. Right now the "ding" group
announced 3 new messages. But all I've found, when I opened the
group, was one.

Opening the folder with mh-e, gave me 3 new messages, among them the
one I'm responding to (which didn't show up in Gnus).

Does the bug only happen when:

1) the folder is located on NFS

2) the folder is large (1000+ messages)

then perhaps you have found the NFS related bug that I and other have
reported.

Nope. Local disk.

Nope. The largest I have is some 360 messages.

I *think* it was caused by a corrupted .newsrc.eld file. Since I had
to change my NNTPSERVER anyways, I took the chore of starting with a
fresh .newsrc.eld

It now seems to work OK (but since I erronously reported that once,
alreay I'll wait a bit before saying so ;-).

Yes. It was premature. It works OK when I first enter a new group.
If I'm not mistaken, it also worked OK the second time. But when I
attempted updating the group, after having posted a new article, it
wasn't there (even though the article *is* in the MH folder)

This sounds like a problem in `nnmh-retrieve-headers'. What does the
" *nntpd*" buffer (note leading space) look like after entering a
group?

When I start Gnus for the first time in an emacs, it works OK (ie. it
finds new articles in MH mail groups).

When I update the "Groups" buffer, that particular group with M-g, or
"Redisplay" inside a group, it can't find the new articles.

This also occurs, when I restart Gnus in an emacs process.
