Perhaps something like:

(define-key gnus-group-mode-map "\C-ca" "\C-u\M-\r\C-u/mE\n")

That is, enter the group with all articles, but without generating it,
and then limit to exclude the E marked articles.

With Red Gnus 0.51.  Untested.
