For some strange reason when I was reading the info pages, I got this idea
that gnus-signature-limit was a line-based number instead of a character
based number (which would explain my confusion) I re-read the source file
which has the description blurb which pretty much flat out tells me I was
being dense. Anyways, and I guess this is a general query... which is
better a line based comparasion or a character based?

I think I prefer line based comparisons, actually.
