The problem is that after splitting up .gnus-crash-box, something starts looking at other 'dot files' in my %HOME directory. This fails, of course, and Gnus reports that it cannot chmod .gnus-crash-box. Here is the relevant chunk of my Messages buffer: Getting mail from d:/ratinox/.gnus-crash-box... Getting mail from d:/ratinox/.gnus-crash-box...done Wrote d:/ratinox/Mail/... ... Wrote d:/ratinox/Mail/... nnml: Reading incoming mail... Getting mail from d:/ratinox/.bashrc Doing chmod: no such file or directory, d:/ratinox/.gnus-crash-box nnmail is trying to treat ~/.bashrc as an inbox/crashbox, which is just plain wrong, and I cannot see where it is getting that from. The .overview files are not saved (though I can save them manually). The active file is unchanged (and it appears that I cannot save that). nnml-generate-nov-databases barfs in various and sundry ways (two runs with two completely different tracebacks, triggered by different groups and functions). -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.3a Charset: noconv iQCVAwUBMu+uap6VRH7BJMxHAQEN0QQAu+NM1U1aHgUGdr+Z4KXDJviBth7ikXFY v6oMRiL8zqjZ8fCOTFwZ6+cu7B4/vYJptMU3zP4yYwR+wLMT8WuYp3eEc77R5Cp0 JGsCPzhbOn59B+sEx0k8u2jdd2VPwJIyfWXg6uDXnBa4x9tj2Jpm7qVu6+Y4CmXv Hfkr5Txrmk4= =0BlT -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Rich Pieri | Do not use Happy Fun Ball on Prescient Technologies, Inc. | concrete.
