Hmmm... not the incoming (babyl) mail file created by movemail (when it pulls a mail file off a POP3 server). Gnus made a serious mess of things when it attempted to split it. Lots of 0-line garbage articles composed of babyl headers, and then it finally barfed. Good thing I had an unmunged crash-box kicking around :).
