Yes, the code only allows one part of each kind. That's probably a
bug, isn't it?

I'd say. One could use multipart/alternative for different languages,
like English and Norwegian. Automatic translation, anybody? :-)

That should be easy... Put it on a web page and have altavista
translate it for ya... Tempting!

Ich halte das für eine wunderbare Idee.

pgnus-0.46 cannot display the second text/plain alternative. Hitting
RET on the ``[ ]'' shows the first text/plain alternative. The third,
text/enriched, alternative works, though.

Um, not truly quoting for example purposes:
-- begin reply text --
This is some text.
2. [*] text/plain [ ] text/plain [ ] text/enriched
This is normal text.
This is more text.
This is the final bit.
-- end reply text --
Interesting (sig deleted by the way).
I get the 2. line, but the other mime button lines are gone. And
the image is replaced with lots o spaces (maybe just 1)?
Now... The real reason I started this reply was:
-- begin displayed article --
2. [*] text/plain [ ] text/plain [ ] text/enriched
This is normal text.[3. text/plain]
This is more text.
-- end displayed article --
(I obviously need to switch to .45 to get mime composition)
Anyway, note the 3 button being on the same line as the text from the
2nd part.
I think this is a no-no, display wise. I think it would be nice if
gnus would check it and put it on the next line...
