A friend uses the tagline "Say it with flowers -- send her a triffid" :-)

They die in salt water, though -- the ending is a "pied piper" style
scene where they follow an ice cream truck over a cliff into the ocean...
(That might affect your choice :-)  I've been told, though,  that the
book was different; in the book, society collapsed, and the triffids
basically won.
