Could that be the case? Another observation: when I do `M-x gnus RET' to start up gnus at work, it shows the article counts more or less as expected after sync'ing in the reads done at home. But the .newsrc.eld isn't made dirty. Perhaps it should be? So that a save, would mean a local store of the merged read information? Of course, a save would also mean that the sync file is rewritten... Hm... confusing.
