It's a curious bug that likely nobody has seen before.
Create a text file called foo with one line it it like
hello world
create a directory bar that contains only one symbolic link.
Edit foo with edbrowse,
you get the byte count and the one line of text.
Then read in the directory bar
r bar
The byte count is not printed after read.
Other than that it all seems normal.
Only this weird combination of things causes the byte count to not print.
