You'd have to write e foo\'bar and who wants to do that? What casual user is going to remember to do that or understand? The error will really confuse people. I was trying to keep the user interface simple and clean for the masses, yet powerful for those of us who understand and want to take advantage of the mysteries of shell expansion. Karl Dahlke
