Erwin is unable to move messages from one folder to another via the edbrowse imap interface.
With his help we did some investigating at db4.
This line comes from the gmail imap server.

* CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 UNSELECT IDLE NAMESPACE QUOTA ID XLIST CHILDREN X-GM-EXT-1 UIDPLUS COMPRESS=DEFLATE ENABLE MOVE CONDSTORE ESEARCH UTF8=ACCEPT LIST-EXTENDED LIST-STATUS LITERAL- SPECIAL-USE APPENDLIMIT=35651584

Note the word MOVE in that list.
Here is the comparable line from the zimbra imap server.

A002 OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 ACL BINARY CATENATE CHILDREN CONDSTORE ENABLE ESEARCH ESORT I18NLEVEL=1 ID IDLE LIST-EXTENDED LIST-STATUS LITERAL+ LOGIN-REFERRALS MULTIAPPEND NAMESPACE QRESYNC QUOTA RIGHTS=ektx SASL-IR SEARCHRES SORT THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT UIDPLUS UNSELECT WITHIN XLIST] LOGIN completed

MOVE does not appear in that list. The command is not supported.
I'm sure other clients move messages, and I am given to understand one can accomplish the same thing through a series of commands.
Not as neat and clean but there is a way. Something like copy and delete.
I'll do some more research but if anyone already knows the answer and can save me some time that would be great.
