But at least I've ruled out that possibility. And one other possibility is ruled out too, but it's peculiar to the way I use edbrowse. I have a symbolic in /usr/local/bin from edbrowse to e, or is it from e to edbrowse? Whichever, I normally just use the letter e to invoke it. It occured to me that once I have invoked edbrowse, and from within it I type e www.amason.com, I am not sure if the 'e' is the edbrowse command, or the symlink to edbrowse. So I removed the symlink e and created 'eb' instead. And guess what? No difference. But now I know, anyhow.
