* 'Cache' directory created when deleting a group

Hi.

When I delete a group with: 'C-u G DEL', Gnus creates a directory
'cache',
including an 'active' file.
Would it be possible, and how?, to avoid this 'cache' production?
I tried to put in ~/.gnus.el: '(setq gnus-use-cache nil)', with
no result.
