Hello

Since I receive a 300 SPAM message a day I switched from fetchmail to
gnus in order to filter spam directly on the imap server (no other
email program can do this as far as I know.)

However now I miss xbiff and the alike which informed me that I have
new mail. I can run gnus-group-get-new-news periodically, but when I
am editing a another buffer I don't notice, whether new mail has
arrived, is there anyway that gnus could inform me that new mail
arrived on the imap server?

Thanks

Uwe Brauer

Give it the -mailbox option.

Ted

My favourite is wmbiff (WindowMaker dockapp) which really kicks ass:

,----[ [23:08][marcus@xenon:~]$ apt-cache show wmbiff ]
| At this moment, wmbiff supports unix-style, maildir, pop3, APOP, IMAP
| and IMAPS mailboxes, as well as Licq and GnomeICU history files.

Marcus
