I can never get this to work properly (running a nearly up-to-date No Gnus 0.3). When I start up Gnus is unplugged mode, it still tries to connect to my non-agentized groups, and fails when I try to enter any of my agentized nnimap groups. Using the agent always sounds like a great idea, but even these simple operations don't work right, at least for me. I submitted a bug report¹, and I've seen some recent discussion here on the same problem, so I don't think I'm the only one seeing this.
