Can this also be adapted to nnimap?

nnir.el comes with support for searching via IMAP.  The good part is
that IMAP supports a search command and nnir.el allows you to use it.
The bad part is that the search command leaves a lot to be desired,
depending on the implementation on the server.  (Speed, for example.)
But you could try it to see if you like it.

nnir thinks that searching via IMAP is slow, so you have to use # to
process-mark some groups to search in, before hitting G G (?) to search.
