Subject: Transition from 5.9.0 to 5.11 issues
Date: 20 Sep 2005 17:29:00 +0200	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <854q8fg3lv.fsf@an-dro.info.enstb.org> (raw)

I run on Debian/unstable and I switched to emacs-snapshot-gtk few weeks
ago except for the emacs running gnus 5.9.0.

Since emacs-snapshot-gtk behaves pretty well, I've decided today to give
the new gnus a try. :-)

Sounds to work but :
- in the Group buffer all the mails seem to be counted as unread, for
example instead of 10 mails, I have 10000 per group :-/

- all the mails appear as this one in the summary buffer :
 . [ 159: logcheck@an-dro.info.en] an-dro.info.enstb.org 2005-09-20 10:02 Security Events

the same for already read mail and previously marked with "!" or new mails.

Seems like some information is lost during the conversion from old
.newsrc.eld to new one...

The "." is new for me and seems to come from the gnus-summary-line-format with %R.
The "." is described as
« Articles that haven't been seen before in Gnus by the user are
marked with a `.' in the second column (`gnus-unseen-mark'). »
in section 3.7.3 Other Marks of the gnus 5.10.6 info.

Well, this is clearly not the case for the articles previously marked with
"!" in a previous gnus version.

Any idea ?

By the way, in the new gnus, typing "!" seems to work but this mark is not
described in 3.7.2 Read Articles.

Thanks,
