Writing a follow up to a post, gnus told me

           Your text should follow quoted text. Really post?

What does he mean by that? The article was

                   <84abs21gyd.fsf@blade3.toledo.com>

on comp.lang.haskell.

I believe that Gnus is discouraging you from top-posting[0].

Did you see the message whose ID you snipped? Can you point out which
part of it is a sign of top posting?

What a neat feature ! This is the first one I see that acts like
this. Great idea.

You quoted some text at the end of the article, but you did not write a
reply after that.

You can customize the `message-syntax-checks' variable. Add
`quoting-style' to turn off this feature.

My apologies. This should read `(quoting-style . disabled)'.

Hm, I see; it considers top-posting any chunk not answered. Sometimes
you don't want to comment a final chunk of the previous poster, but want
to leave that in case the poster would like to make reference to it
again. Thanks for ``quoting-style.''
