One way to do that is in using gnus-posting-styles See for the gory details the info pages on that subject, since it creates a whole new "poster-environment" within your gnus. The simplest way is to insert in .emacs.el or .gnus.el files ;;; (setq user-mail-address "foo@bar.TLD") this changes the user-login-name@machine.tld envvar in from-headers.
