Oh, I thought you were asking about newsgroups.
My experience is that it varies way more on mailing lists - some people
always send a personal copym as well as to the list.
I find that annoying, personally (I read the mailinglist!) - but the
etiquette is far less clear-cut when it comes to mailing lists.
"Only" sending to the mailing list is never wrong, in my humble opinion,
though.
