I agree that it would be too slow for many people, especially with remote IMAP servers. So I'd like an optional setting. But I don't think it should have anything to do with Gnus shutdown and startup. *Every* time I hit `g', I want the marks to be refreshed from the IMAP server. Presumably this is the same code that runs when Gnus starts up, so it would improve the behaviour at startup as well. Dan
