When I hit a thread with a long prehistory which is hidden because I
have read all the articles in it, I try this command (bound to A T by
default) to get some context.  Sometimes it works, displaying the read
articles from the thread origin to the first unread article.  More
often, though, it does nothing.  Why?

All my groups are nnml mail groups.
