Do you mean the Gcc header field is not automatically added, or that
it is present but not acted upon?

It does not work in both cases. When I add it manually thus:

Gcc: nnml:foo

I can send the mail but no archive copy goes to nnml:foo. When I get it
automatically by setting the variable message-required-mail-headers and
enter nnml:foo I again can send the mail but no archive copy goes to
nnml:foo or elsewhere. 

gnus-message-archive-method is set to nnml.

All this works perfectly with news.
