Exactly the same thing happens. Of course, the message I see is neither "No unread articles" nor "no articles" but rather "No unread news". In the *Messages* buffer I see the following: Retrieving newsgroup: INBOX.spam... nnimap: Updating info for INBOX.spam...done Fetching headers for INBOX.spam...done No unread news If I go into the server browser for the IMAP server, I see the INBOX.spam box listed with 24 messages (probably the correct number which I've put in there). I also found that if I unsubscribed from the INBOX.spam group, then I could browse the group through the gnus server browser -- an action which led me to a 'mail-ephemeral:Inbox.spam' buffer with the messages in it, while *Messages* shows: nnimap: Generating active list for mail...done Reading active file...done Connecting to mail...done Opening nnimap server on mail-ephemeral... imap: Connecting to mail... Waiting for response from mail...done imap: Connecting to mail...done imap: Authenticating to `mail' using `login'... imap: Plaintext authentication... imap: Authenticating to `mail' using `login'...done Opening nnimap server on mail-ephemeral...done Retrieving newsgroup: nnimap+mail-ephemeral:INBOX.spam... nnimap: Updating info for nnimap+mail-ephemeral:INBOX.spam...done nnimap: Updating info for nnimap+mail-ephemeral:INBOX.spam...done nnimap: Setting marks in INBOX.spam...done Fetching headers for nnimap+mail-ephemeral:INBOX.spam...done Generating summary...done This all seems a bit odd...
